Afghanistan is the origin of Gurbandi or Choti Giri almonds. In spite of their small size, they are packed with nutrients and essential fats. Gurbandi badam has a bittersweet flavor and is richer in natural oils than California badam.
Afghani almonds are known as ‘choti giri’ or Gurbandi almonds. Despite the presence of high concentrations of oils in the grain, only a small amount of the total crop is bitter. The antioxidants present in Gurbandi almonds are also rich in nutrients such as omega 3, vitamin E and phytochemicals. Although small in size, Choti Giri gives a lot of energy.
